Confetti X, the latest game-changer at Nottingham’s Confetti Institute of Creative Technologies

Confetti X 100-seater auditorium

Confetti X brings together years of expertise in live events, content creation, streaming and competitive gaming. With strong links to the industry, the 14,000 sqft complex plays host to amateur and professional esports tournaments.

Situated in the former Royal Mail Sorting Office and Marco Island’s multi-story carpark, the site has undergone a £5m transformation. Unrecognisable now, the new state-of-the-art facility plays host to a 100-seater esports venue on the ground floor, with a double-height social space, player warm-up rooms and technical studios on the first floor.

Working alongside Nottingham-based, Allan Joyce Architects and acoustic specialists, White Mark Ltd, Constellations has designed and manufactured bespoke acoustic panelling, individual player-pods, a contemporary servery and café style seating in the lofty social space. Behind the scenes, bespoke furniture made to enclose each individual piece of specialist esports production equipment within the warm-up areas, Broadcast Studio and Production Gallery, compliment the striking aesthetic of the building’s interior.

Confetti Institute of Creative Technologies, part of Nottingham Trent University, is one of only a handful of universities offering qualifications in esports with students able to study at BTEC level through to postgraduate degree level in esports production.

Confetti founder and Chief Executive, Craig Chettle MBE comments:

“The global esports market is thriving, and developments in technology are presenting opportunities to transform the way we create and consume content.

Students learning in Confetti X will acquire a range of skills, not just in esports but in content creation, live event management and delivery, business and marketing, and broadcasting and media production, paving the way for their future success in this growth industry. As well as being an education centre of excellence, Confetti X will bring many events and new activities to the area – generating inward investment for the city.”

With official endorsement from the British Esports Federation and support from partners GGTech and NUEL, Confetti X has already hosted many high-profile events, including:

  • Commonwealth Esports Championships Qualifiers, 2022
