University Hall wins prestigious award
The Constellations team work on an array of different types of projects and has added an award-winning renovation of a former Wesleyan Chapel to their portfolio.
The renovation, which saw the former Chapel turned into a graduation and music venue for Nottingham Trent University (NTU), has been recognised with a prestigious award from the Association for University Directors of Estates (AUDE).
With the building previously being a synagogue, the restoration had to be managed sensitively to ensure the key features of the building were preserved.
Constellations supplied and fitted bespoke upholstery for the pew seating and pew numbers, and manufactured solid oak bespoke ceremonial furniture for the stage. The work didn’t stop there, with the team designing and fitting a contemporary dining facility in the newly developed extension.
The venue, situated on Shakespeare Street in Nottingham city centre, was designed in keeping with its historical features, whilst upholding a contemporary feel for staff and students to access, but also as a culture and arts space for use by the wider community.
Commenting on the work carried out by Constellations, Dr Michelle Peppin – Directorate Policy Manager at NTU – said:
“Not only did they deliver a high-quality end result, Constellations become part of the ‘team’; making sure that project brief and design properly responded to user needs.
“They take genuine care at every level – from dealing with all the people involved through to hands-on installation.”
